Katie Galloway, MS, PhD

 

Katie Galloway, MS, PhD, is a Strategic and Communications Consultant with the California Alliance of Academics and Communities for Public Health Equity, as well as an investigative reporter, documentary filmmaker and impact producer.

Dr. Galloway’s Alliance-relevant research includes work in the educational, criminal justice, environmental and healthcare realms including on gun violence prevention, criminal justice reform and youth development with a focus on economic and racial disparities.

Galloway’s consulting and impact work has contributed to political and legal reforms at local, state and national levels. She received a BS in Political Science at UC Berkeley, an MS in Journalism at Columbia University and a PhD in Political Science from UC Berkeley with emphases in Political Behavior and Public Law.

A former Sundance and Film Independent Fellow and Filmmaker-in- Residence at UC Berkeley’s Investigative Reporting Program, Galloway taught Media Studies, Communications, Journalism and Documentary Studies at UC Berkeley and Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. 

An Oakland native and proud alum of Oakland Public Schools, Galloway’s work as an investigative reporter, filmmaker, impact producer and communications consultant is driven by a deep commitment to social, racial and economic justice.
